Connery Collar Shirt with Cocktail Cuff in Blue Swiss Poplin
Description
This is the definitive classic blue for a fine business shirt. Our classic collar is based on that worn by Sean Connery in the early James Bond films - same spread, same collar point depth, same collar height - all passed on to us by a master shirt maker who was there when Sean Connery was being fitted. It's great with a tie or worn open, casually.
Terence Young, the director of the early Bond films, was probably the closest to a real life James Bond as one could get, having read oriental history at Cambridge and being an officer in the Irish Guards; and once cast, he took Sean Connery under his wing. He took him to dinner, showed him how to walk, how to talk and, most importantly, he introduced him to his tailor and shirt maker, where this collar was developed.
The ever-elegant Mr Young was also a fan of cocktail cuffs, a two button turn-back, also called cowheel in the trade and known in continental Europe as a casino cuff. Due to the popularity of the early films, this cuff is also now known as a James Bond cuff.
Made of Alumo poplin from Appenzell, Switzerland that has been sanforized so there is virtually no shrinkage. Alumo reference 7053 1407 1091.
